JUNE — A TIME FOR SUMMER SUN, HOPE, AND THE SPECIAL HINT OF NORMALCY

I can’t believe May went by so quickly. I feel like I blinked and it was gone, and now I have one official month left before we’re all expected back into the office. Things are slowly starting to return back to normal… either that or people have just stopped caring that much and doing what they want to anyway. *shrug* which has made this pandemic seem a little less intimidating. I guess the phrase “ignorance is bliss” really struck a chord.

Looking Forward To

Believe it or not, but I’m actually getting ok with the idea of going into work in a month. Of course, I have really been enjoying this time for myself, but I really do miss my coworkers and being able to talk and hang out with them. And brainstorm with them on a project, or work together as a team. What I don’t miss is pretending to work when I clearly need a break - because now, I can literally just go get a snack lol.

A lot of fun things will be happening on le blog. I think I finally announce that I will be partnering with Neutrogena! *wooh* that has been a hard secret to keep from you guys, as I really like to keep you up to day with everything. This has been my first “real” partnership I would say, and it was really fun to create. I genuinely love the products that I showed on my instagram this past week and actually used it before they even reached out haha. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that I’m literally building a brand from the ground up, and even though I have a long ways to go, it’s moments like this that help me realize how far I’ve come. :-)

We have also officially reached 2,000 page views/month on the blog! Crazy! It’s still hard to believe that people are willingly participating in the outputs of this passion project. I should probably start referring to it as a business if I ever want to grow it past this blog. I keep trying to think of what I want it to become. Blog consultant advice? Interior Styling? A cute home decor line? The opportunities are endless.

Inspired By

June means that it’s finally summerrr, and I have been loving all things bright and fun, lately. I also have been in search of the perfect pair of denim. The beautiful shade of vintage blue with a waist that fits like a glove and a perfect slightly-tapered straight ankle.

I’ve been dabbling in Levi’s jeans, and really want to see what the hype is about. I know that they’re “So vintage” and have the possibility of being handed down to my daughter once her generation thinks high-waisted and billowy legs are cool again, but I actually haven’t been able to experience it myself.

I’m still on my minimalism trend, and will probably be developing a capsule wardrobe soon. Both for my wallet’s sake and for my mental health. I’m actually happier in the long term not buying things and taking time to appreciate what I already have - and if we’re being honest, I’ve found myself reaching for my wallet more times than I needed to this quarantine. I keep ensuring that once I get to my optimal new wardrobe, I’ll be done - but, I sense a pattern and want to nip it in the bud before anything bad happens. Plus, I got financial goals I’m tryna hit.

In terms of fresh new looks, I’ve been recently inspired by cute summer bobs with bangs. If we’re being honest, I’ve always longed for a good bang-bob to add to my wig collection. But due to the small size of my head (lol yes, I’m aware of it) — it doesn’t exactly look the best on me. I’ve tried a couple that my friends have completely veto-ed, and even though the hair was nice and it couldv’e possibly worked, I never felt confident enough to buy it.

But I have just officially decided that if I find the right wig with the perfect length, and the right amount of “wisp” in the bang part, then it’ll be a dead winner and I won’t ever to take it off.

Home Happenings

I started watching the show Selling Sunset via a recommendation from Tino and I finished both seasons in two days. I loved it that much.

Not only does it have the petty reality TV drama that I absolutely live for, but the homes that they show are gorgeous LA multimillion-dollar mansions where the “California casual” design style is embedded in their genes.

The entire show has made me want to spend the rest of my life staging beautiful homes and has also continuously inspired my dream to turn my sunny Houston apartment into an Cali-casual paradise.

So this month, we’re putting plans together to bring that to life.

Yes, I know, it seems like we’re always planning but furniture costs a lot of money and your girl has bills to pay. But honestly, I’ve been saving up for some purchases to really complete my space.

I really love the airy, clean, lightness of a Cali casual home. It’s so sophisticated and collected but still super warm and inviting. But most of all, it looks effortless.

I’m thinking about putting together a guide on achieving this infamous Cali Casual look, as I’ve been inspired so much between reality TV and my current pins that I have to share this new knowledge.

I am on the search for the perfect round coffee table to go with my new TV stand and can’t wait till everything comes together! In the meantime, I’ve been taking aesthetically pleasing photos of my willowy curtains. Enjoy the mini.

Also, surprisingly, the show has lowered the barrier of entry of house purchasing for me. For some reason, it never occurred to me that most people don’t actually have the full amount in cash when they’re buying their house… I don’t know why that’s just computing now.

But seeing people purchase their 4 million, 5 million, 25 million dollar mansions, really put a lot of perspective into the home that I want to buy one day. Of course, the numbers will be no where close, but it did get me interested enough where I actually started looking at houses and putting a potential plan together of what it would look like if me and Tristan bought one. It’s been really fun hypothetically planning and going through Zillow to look at some pretty ones in my neighborhood and has also given my a lot of perspective.
